When tree removal is necessary you can be assured that Five Star Tree Service can remove any tree efficiently and safely, no matter what the size or location of the tree may be.

The following information will help you to understand the removal process as well as options in tree removal that may help to better fit your budgeting preference.

Standard Tree Removal
When Five Star Tree Service is contracted to remove a tree(s) for you our standard removal includes the disposal of the limbs, cutting the firewood to 16” lengths that will be left on site, and removal of the vast majority of the rakings associated with the removal. The wood is left at the area of the removal; it is not split nor stacked unless an estimate for such services is requested. The wood can be cut in different lengths, but an additional charge may be incurred. An estimate can also be provided for the removal of the wood if requested.

Down Only Removal
A down only tree removal consists of safely taking the tree down either in the form of multiple pieces, and when the situation allows, in one piece. The tree is then left on the ground where it comes down. There is no cleanup, cutting of firewood, or removal of limb material. This option is the least expensive and might be the perfect fit for the budget conscious property owner looking to reduce costs.

Low Impact Tree Removal
The final option to you is a low impact removal. This task is done by lowering all sections to the ground and, then removing them from the site in small sections to reduce drag damage to lawn or bedding flowers. A crane may sometimes be needed to perform this type of work. You can expect this work to be more costly than a standard removal. For this reason, this method is only used when specifically requested.

Pruning

When pruning trees and shrubs for the benefit and longevity of the plant, the pruner must have a good understanding of the needs of the specific plant being pruned. A Certified Arborist has the experience necessary to understand plant physiology and anatomy, as well as the way in which certain plants respond to pruning.

Pruning Definitions
This sheet is intended to give you a basic understanding and definitions of the pruning types which can be utilized for your tree(s).

Canopy cleaning: The proper removal of dead, dying, diseased, weak branches, water sprouts, and conflicting growth.

Thinning: The selective removal of branches to increase light penetration, air movement, and reduce weight.

Elevating: The removal of lower branches to provide greater clearance from the ground upward.

Canopy reduction: (Canopy Shaping) Reduction of the height and spread of a tree.

View clearing: The selective thing of framework limbs or an area of the crown to allow for a specific view.

Restoration pruning: Pruning to improve the structure, form and appearance of a tree that has been severely headed, vandalized, or storm damaged.

Dead branch removal: Pruning to remove hazards currently present in a trees canopy, such as dead, broken and hanging limbs.

Tree Support Systems

Five Star Tree Service is a preservation minded tree service provider committed to helping keep valued trees healthy and structurally stable. Most trees left to their own tend to be sufficiently stable without assistance, however defects and injuries can cause trees to be more prone to partial or complete failure.

Although not every defect can be mitigated, the potential for failure caused by some specific defects or injuries can be reduced significantly with the use of mechanical support systems, often referred to as cabling and/or bracing.

If you have a tree that has been improperly pruned by means of topping, injured by weather or other activities, or simply appears to have a structural defect, we may be able to help reduce the potential for further damage with the installation of a mechanical support system.
